The Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint Programme focuses on enhancing students’ knowledge and abilities in
- Mathematics,
- English, and
- Science.
It offers several benefits to your child, including ongoing assessment of their progress, promoting a global perspective, and equipping them for success in the modern world. Additionally, it prepares them for IGCSEs/International GCSEs.
Around the ages of 11-13, at the end of Grade 8, children will take Checkpoint tests. These tests are evaluated by Cambridge International and serve as an international benchmark to evaluate your child’s performance.
The Cambridge Checkpoint serves as a bridge between primary and secondary education for IGCSE students. It aids in the development of essential skills and comprehension in Mathematics, English, and Science during the initial three years of secondary education. This foundation will greatly assist them in pursuing higher-level qualifications, including the IGCSE.
Each year, the British Council supports over two million individuals in taking international exams. We are dedicated to assisting you throughout every phase of your child’s education, including subject selection and exam registration.
Cambridge IGCSE is the world’s most popular international curriculum for 14-16 year-olds (9-10 grades), leading to globally recognised and valued Cambridge IGCSE qualifications. It is part of the Cambridge Secondary 2 stage.
Cambridge IGCSE provides excellent preparation for the Cambridge Advanced stage including Cambridge International AS and A Levels and Cambridge Pre-U, as well as other progression routes. It incorporates the best in international education for learners at this level. It develops in line with changing needs and is regularly updated and extended.
Cambridge IGCSE is recognised as a reliable record of attainment by universities and employers around the world. Many universities worldwide require a combination of A Levels and IGCSEs to meet their entry requirements. In the UK, Cambridge IGCSE is accepted as equivalent to the GCSE.
Private candidates have the opportunity to take IGCSE and GCE O Level exams in various subjects at our designated exam center:
Cambridge International Advanced Subsidiary Levels (AS Levels) and Cambridge International Advanced Levels (A Levels) are subject-focused certifications that students usually pursue during the last two years of secondary education. The Cambridge International AS Level typically takes one year to complete, while the Cambridge International A Level typically spans two years.
Cambridge International AS & A Levels are designed for students aged 16 to 19 who are preparing for university education. These qualifications are pursued by over 175,000 students from over 125 countries annually.
Cambridge qualifications enjoy global recognition from universities and employers. Cambridge International AS & A Levels are acknowledged by UCAS, UK universities, and institutions around the world as being on par with the AS and A Levels taken by students in the UK in terms of standard and grade. Students leverage Cambridge International AS & A Levels to secure admission to esteemed universities worldwide, including those in the UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India, Singapore, Egypt, Jordan, South Africa, the Netherlands, Germany, and Spain.
