Homework Guidelines

Homework at Paragon ISC is an integral part of our learning process. It reinforces classroom teaching, builds independent study habits, and helps students take ownership of their learning. Our approach ensures that homework is meaningful, age-appropriate, and supportive of each child’s academic progress.

Purpose of Homework

Homework is designed to:

We believe homework should support learning, not overwhelm students. Tasks are structured to balance challenge, clarity, and well-being.

Our Homework Principles

1. Age-Appropriate Expectations

The amount and complexity of homework increase gradually as students progress through the grades. This helps students build confidence and stamina in a manageable way.

2. Reinforcement, Not Repetition

Homework reinforces what students have learned, allowing them to practise, review, and extend their understanding without unnecessary repetition.

3. Clear Instructions

Teachers provide clear directions, expectations, and submission dates so students know exactly what they need to complete.

4. Independent Work & Family Support

Homework is designed to be completed independently. Parents are encouraged to support good study routines, but not to complete tasks for the child.

5. Consistent Practices Across the School

All homework follows the expectations outlined in the Paragon ISC Homework Policy to maintain consistency, fairness, and high quality across grade levels.

How Homework Supports Learning

1. Builds Key Study Skills

Homework helps students practise self-management, responsibility, and organisation — essential skills for high school and university.

2. Strengthens Classroom Learning

By revisiting concepts at home, students deepen their understanding and strengthen long-term retention.

3. Encourages Critical Thinking

Many tasks are designed to promote inquiry, problem-solving, and application of concepts in real-world situations.

4. Supports Home–School Partnership

Homework allows families to understand what students are learning and see their progress throughout the year.
